School Scoop

Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use School Scoop, subscribe to a digest, receive Free or Premium access, submit or forward a school newsletter, redeem a promotion or reward, share a referral link, or purchase a subscription. By subscribing, forwarding content, purchasing or continuing to use the service, you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy & Safety policy. If you do not agree, do not use or subscribe to School Scoop.

Who Can Use School Scoop

School Scoop accounts are for people aged 18 or over who can enter a contract, including parents, carers and other adults following school information. Children must not create accounts or submit personal information. If you use School Scoop for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to act for it.

🏫 What School Scoop Is

School Scoop helps parents follow school newsletters by creating summaries, date lists, reminders, calendar tools, and related Premium features. We are independent. We are not part of, endorsed by, or approved by any school, education department, newsletter platform, or calendar provider.

Summaries Are Not The Official Source

School Scoop uses purpose-built automation and quality checks. Summaries, action items, translations, calendar events, and reminders can still be wrong, incomplete, delayed, duplicated, or based on an old or incorrect newsletter. Always check the official school newsletter, school website, school app, teacher message, or school office before relying on anything important.

School Scoop is a convenience tool, not an emergency, child-safety, supervision, medical, legal, financial, or official school communication service.

✅ Your Responsibilities

Please provide accurate signup details, keep your manage and calendar links private, and only submit newsletter links or school content that are publicly available or that you are allowed to share with us. Do not submit portal passwords, private student records, individual teacher or parent messages, private parent chats, children's names or sensitive information beyond an authorised school newsletter, or anything that would breach another person's privacy or rights.

You must not misuse School Scoop, interfere with the service, scrape it at scale, attempt to access another user's account, submit misleading verification information, or use it for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes.

📨 Newsletter Forwarding

Newsletter forwarding is an optional way to use School Scoop when we cannot access a suitable public newsletter source. Follow the school-specific instructions and send from the email address registered to your School Scoop account. You may forward a complete newsletter email, attach a supported readable PDF, or include a supported public newsletter link that opens without a login. A private portal link by itself is not enough, and we will never ask for your school portal password.

By forwarding a newsletter, you confirm that you received it lawfully and are authorised or otherwise legally permitted by the school, sender, relevant rights holder or applicable law to provide it to School Scoop for your personal or household summary. You also confirm that you are permitted to disclose the personal information contained in it for that purpose. Do not forward material marked confidential, content you have been told not to share, or content unrelated to the school newsletter service.

If you create an automatic email rule, it must be limited to the relevant school's newsletters. Never create a rule that forwards your whole inbox or unrelated messages. You are responsible for checking and disabling your forwarding rule if you stop using School Scoop or no longer receive the newsletter lawfully.

You give School Scoop a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, for only as long as reasonably needed, to receive, copy, security-scan, extract, transmit to our service providers, automatically summarise and privately deliver the forwarded material, and to create the account-specific calendar and reminder features you request. This licence also permits limited access for security, support, quality review and troubleshooting. It does not give School Scoop ownership of the newsletter or permission to publish it, sell it, use it for advertising, or add it to a public school archive.

Forwarded material passes through our email-routing and receiving providers and may be sent to a third-party automated summarisation provider. The resulting digest is delivered only to the associated subscriber account. It is not shared with other parents or added to public school pages, previews, archives, sharing tools or school-wide calendar data. Private extracted dates may remain available only through that subscriber's reminders, calendar links and tokenised Smart Calendar feed. See Privacy & Safety for details about collection, providers, retention and deletion requests.

We may reject or stop a forward without creating a summary if it is incomplete, duplicated, too old, unsupported, too large, unsafe, unrelated to the selected school, outside the subscriber's current access, or fails our security or quality checks. We may send the registered subscriber a service message explaining how to correct a supported problem. A rejected, duplicate or undelivered forward does not use an included newsletter edition.

💳 Free & Paid Premium

New subscribers can receive their next three summarised newsletter editions for a selected school without providing a credit card. An edition counts when School Scoop delivers a new summary under that included allowance. The timing depends on the school publishing a new, accessible newsletter that we can process. After the three included editions, ongoing summaries and Premium-only features stop unless you actively choose paid Premium or have school-wide access, a gift, a reward or another active promotion.

We will not charge you unless you actively choose a paid subscription. We may change future free offers, plan names or feature availability, but the offer presented when you subscribe governs your included allowance. The current paid price and billing period are shown before checkout.

Paid Premium subscriptions are processed by a secure third-party payment provider. We do not store your full card details. The checkout page shows the total price, billing interval and that the plan renews automatically until cancelled. You can manage or cancel through your School Scoop manage link or the payment provider's billing portal. There is no cancellation fee. A standard cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period; a full School Scoop unsubscribe may cancel paid access immediately. Cancel before the next billing date to avoid the next renewal. If a payment fails, is reversed or the subscription ends, Premium access may be paused.

If we increase a subscription price, the increase will apply only to a future billing period. We will provide reasonable advance notice before a paid plan renews at a higher price so you can cancel. We may change free features or limits, but will not charge for a previously free account without your active agreement.

Except where required by law, we do not provide refunds solely for change of mind, unused time, failing to cancel before renewal or choosing the wrong plan. This does not limit refunds, cancellation rights or other remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law. Contact us if the service was not supplied as promised or you believe a charge is incorrect.

Promotions, Gifts & Included Premium Access

From time to time, we may offer promo codes, school-wide launch partner access, referral rewards, verifier rewards, founder access, manual gifts, trials, or other included access to Premium features. These offers are discretionary, have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and may be subject to extra conditions shown with the offer.

Included or gifted Premium access is not a paid subscription and does not guarantee that a feature or product model will remain available indefinitely after the stated offer period. We will not convert promotional access to a paid subscription unless you actively choose a paid plan.

We may refuse, suspend or remove an offer if we reasonably believe it was granted in error, obtained through abuse or misleading information, used outside its stated conditions, or connected to inaccurate school verification. We will act reasonably, protect valid access already paid for, and give reasonable notice where practical before materially changing unexpired promotional access. Your rights under applicable law continue to apply.

🗓️ Calendar, Reminders & Preferences

Smart Calendar feeds, calendar links, Tomorrow Reminders, keyword alerts, language preferences, year levels, class/group terms, and category settings are convenience features. Calendar apps refresh subscribed feeds on their own schedule, and reminders depend on email delivery, school newsletter timing, and our ability to detect the relevant event. You remain responsible for checking the official school source before acting on a date, payment, form, excursion, pickup change, or thing to bring.

📰 School Content & Submissions

If you submit a public newsletter URL, school URL, correction or other public-source material, you confirm that it is public or that you are authorised to share it. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to access, copy, process, summarise, cache and review that material only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, improve and support School Scoop. Forwarded private material is governed by the narrower licence and privacy limits in the Newsletter Forwarding section above. You retain any rights you have in material you submit.

We may reject, remove, correct or stop using a school source or submission if it is unauthorised, private when submitted through a public path, inaccurate, stale, unavailable, unsupported, unsuitable, unlawful or unsafe to process. Rights in original school newsletters and third-party material remain with their respective owners. If you believe material has been submitted or processed without authority, contact hello@schoolscoop.com.au with the school, material and basis of your concern so we can review it.

School Scoop Content & Intellectual Property

School Scoop's software, branding, page design and original service content are owned by or licensed to School Scoop. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your own household or authorised organisational purposes while these terms apply. You must not copy, resell, reverse engineer, republish or commercially exploit School Scoop or systematically extract its data except where law permits or we agree in writing.

📬 Emails & Marketing

We send service emails needed to operate your account, including digests, manage links, preview-ending notices, trial or reward expiry notices, calendar setup emails, reminders, account notices, payment notices and important service updates. We may also send product or promotional emails where we have consent under applicable spam laws. You can stop marketing without stopping service messages available under your current access, or unsubscribe from School Scoop entirely, using links in our emails or your manage page.

Third-Party Services & Links

School Scoop links to and depends on third-party services such as school websites, newsletter platforms, hosting, email, automated processing, calendar and payment providers. Their services and content are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party sites we do not control, but this does not limit any responsibility School Scoop has under applicable law for providers acting on our behalf.

🛠️ Availability & Changes

School Scoop depends on schools publishing accessible newsletters or users forwarding complete supported content, third-party platforms, email delivery, payment systems, automated summarisation providers, and hosting providers. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, that every newsletter will be found or successfully processed, or that every digest, calendar event, translation, or alert will arrive on time.

We may improve, replace or discontinue features over time. If a change materially reduces a paid service during a current billing period, we will give reasonable notice where practical and provide any remedy required by law. We will not use a service change to remove rights that have already accrued.

⚖️ Consumer Rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law. Our paid services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded. Depending on the problem, you may be entitled to have a service problem remedied, cancel the service, receive a refund for an unused portion, or receive compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.

⚠️ Liability

Subject to the consumer rights above and to the maximum extent permitted by law, School Scoop is not liable for loss caused by relying on a summary instead of an official school source, or for indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable. School Scoop does not exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or rights that cannot be excluded.

🚪 Ending Access

You can unsubscribe from School Scoop at any time. We may suspend or end access where we reasonably believe an account is inactive, misused, unlawful, compromising privacy or security, causing material operational risk, or connected to inaccurate submissions. Where practical, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to correct the issue.

We may also stop supporting a school, feature, plan or the service. If we discontinue a paid service before the end of a prepaid period, we will provide notice and any refund or other remedy required by law.

Complaints & Disputes

Send support questions, billing disputes, refund requests and other complaints to hello@schoolscoop.com.au. Include enough information for us to identify the account and understand the issue. We will try to resolve complaints promptly and fairly. Nothing in these terms prevents you from contacting a consumer regulator, using a tribunal or court, or exercising any other right available by law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms to reflect service or legal changes. The updated terms apply from the published effective date. If a change materially disadvantages an existing paid subscriber, we will provide reasonable advance notice and any cancellation or refund rights required by law. If law requires fresh agreement, we will ask for it.

📍 Contact & Governing Law
